Speckled Welsummer Chicks (FEMALE)

Description

Our Welsummer line started with an SOP trio of beautiful birds from a well known Welsummer breeder, but their eggs had a surprising lack of the very speckles that first made us interested in them in the first place! We began adding genetics with outrageous speckling to our breeding pens (but with unknown adherence to the SOP) while culling our original rooster for temperament. As we develop our Welsummer line, we hatch only the most speckled eggs, and are growing out as many as we can! From the grow out pen we choose the birds with the best conformation to go back into the breeding pen.

We’re excited about the speckles we saw last year and expect great things in 2023!

The price listed is for Female chicks, which can be discerned at birth with reasonable certainty through features such as heavy eyeliner and the color of down. Please use this listing (instead of the lower priced straight run listing) if you plan to ask for all female chicks. I will not be able to send you all females from the straight run listing. Thank you!

Live Chick Shipping: Chicks are shipped with 72 or 96 hour heat packs and grogel in a live chick box via priority mail express (usually overnight, but some destinations take two days). We had 100% live arrivals in 2022!

Before ordering, please be sure to read our policies page. Chicks purchased during Spring ’23 Pre Sales will receive a Paypal notification of your purchase immediately and an email from me ballparking your shipping date when your spot on the Spring ’23 waitlist is about 2 weeks out (sometime between late March and June). I confirm all chick shipments the day before shipment, and send tracking info on the day of, to be sure you’re ready to receive your new additions.
