Purple Copper line Black Copper Marans Pullet (two max per transaction)

Description

We have a plethora of pullets on ground this year, and though it’s hard not to keep them all for pur pens we can share a few before we build our breeding pens for next year. Pullets are females close to the point of lay, born of the same pairings as the chicks we ship all year from our clan mating system for our Purple Copper line.

Plumage is black copper and we strive to achieve the SOP for Marans; eggs are typically dark at the time of first lay and then fade gradually through the laying year as the amount of pigment that the hen can deposit on each eggs gets depleted over the year. We breed for dark pigmentation and keep bloom and speckles in our pens, and we’re proud of the color we achieve. That said, not all hens from documented dark pigment and heavy bloom pairings will lay as dark as their parents— some do and some don’t!

It’s the luck of the draw— I never know who will give what shade until she actually starts laying!

Shipping is expensive on juvenile birds, calculated by USPS Priority Express by weight. One or two pullets can fit in a special live bird box and I charge $150 flat rate. If costs to your location are more I will cover them.
